Westchester’s Premier Day Camp Since 1933

Campers

Badger Day Camp was founded in 1933 by Ruth and Jack Collins. Jack and Ruth had been operating programs for kids under the Badger name throughout Westchester County and they were ready to find a permanent location for their Badger programs. After some searching, Badger found a home at 119 Rockland Ave, Larchmont, NY and Badger Day Camp was born. Since then, the Collins family has been running the day camp and have continued the founding philosophy of offering a wide variety of quality programs for kids, in a fun and safe environment, for over 60 years!

At the heart of our campus is an Olympic sized pool. Campers get to jump in twice daily. Pool time is split between instruction and free swim to ensure a ton of fun every day! Before and after camp hours, the pool is often filled with our Badger Swim Team, led by internationally recognized Swim Coach, John Collins Jr. who has produced Olympians, American and National record holders and world champions all who have come out of this pool! It is not unusual for campers to catch a glimpse, or even meet, some of our former or current team members, especially during our swim demo days. Surrounding the pool are ten acres of land with carved out areas for arts & crafts, yoga and nature. We have courts to shoot hoops and tennis courts to volley on. We have an outdoor game room and a playground for kids of all ages to go wild on! We have a baseball diamond and a special room for music and one for drama too! All this is just to name a few of the many programs we have here at Badger. And what would summer camp be without a few trees to kick back under to enjoy some ice cream? Throughout the summer we also have special theme days that add a burst of excitement into the summer air. Campers wait all summer for the Badger Olympics and who can resist a good talent show? Other special days are the July 4th dj dance party, pirate day, surfing safari, carnival day and swim demo days to which parents are invited.

Our Mission

Badger Day Camp strives to foster the mental, physical and social growth of our campers.  We focus on developing confidence and self-esteem, and encourage campers to accept new challenges and have positive attitudes. Our goal is that each camper will have a strong sense of belonging to an environment that is accepting, healthy and fun.

We recognize that families have different scheduling needs and perhaps some vacation plans. Badger operates for approximately eight consecutive weeks throughout the summer, but if you can’t make all eight weeks, we’ve got you covered. We offer 4 week and up options for camp and they do not need to be consecutive.

Badger Campers are ages 3 – 12.

Pre-Schoolers

The pre-schoolers may enroll in our Half Day (9am-1pm and campers are picked up from camp by a parent or guardian), Mini Day (9am-2pm) or Full Day (9am-4pm) Programs.

Kindergarten

Those entering Kindergarten have the option of a mini day (9am-2pm) or a full day (9am-4pm) Both campers who attend mini days and full days get to swim twice a day. We pick Mini day campers up in the morning and we drop those who live locally off in the afternoon for a set fee. Call us to find out if you are in the drop off radius.

Full day campers attend camp from 9am – 4pm.

Those entering kindergarten and above are grouped by gender and what grade they are entering into. All campers are provided a snack in the morning, a hot lunch and ice cream every day.

Our Happy Campers

I have only the fondest of memories of my years as Badger camper!  I also had the pleasure of working as a counselor for many summers as well. And, when the time came for my children to go to camp, there was no question where they would go! The personal, caring touch of the Collins family is felt in every aspect of the camp.  The balance of sports and non-sports activities combined with the stellar swim program makes for the perfect summer. Badger will always hold a special place in our family’s hearts!
