Melissa Arena started working with children 20 years ago at a summer camp in upstate New York. She is a graduate of Albany University and holds a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Hunter College.
She began her teaching career at an elementary school in New York City in 2000. During her tenure in the city, Melissa also worked for Harlem RBI—an inner-city day camp that allows children to play, learn and grow. Additionally, she worked with the summer program at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on the Upper West Side. In 2005, she came to Westchester to teach at Chatsworth Elementary School in Larchmont where she is currently teaching fifth grade.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys running and is currently training for the Rocky Mountain Half-Marathon. She has two young boys who also attend camp each summer.
