Welcoming Leila Vaziri to camp!
A new addition to summer!
We are very proud to announce the addition and participation of Leila Vaziri, 2007 world champion to our swim program this summer! Leila will be at camp helping our campers learn the main techniques of the different strokes to enhance their swimming levels. She will be holding a handful of clinics to our campers of all ages to educate them in the techniques and skills of swimming.
2007 World Champion
Leila Vaziri is an American competition swimmer, 2007 world champion and a former world record-holder in the 50- meter backstroke. Leila attended Indiana University where she swam for the Indiana Hoosiers swimming and diving team. She is the 2005 Big Ten Champion in the 100-yard backstroke and the 2007 NCAA bronze medalist in the 100-yard backstroke. During her Hoosier career she earned 15 All-American certificates which is the most in Indiana University’s history and was named the 2007 Indiana University Female Athlete of the Year.
Backstroke World Record
After college Leila went on to further her swimming career by winning a gold medal in the 50 meter backstroke and a silver medal by swimming the backstroke leg in the 4×100 meter medley at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne. During the 2007 Aquatics Championship Leila broke Natalie Coughlin’s record in the 50 meter backstroke of 28.3 seconds with an outstanding time of 28.16.
